2,675 corruption cases pending
Bhopal: As many as 2,675 cases of corruption including against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, six ministers, four former ministers, 24 IAS and four IPS officers were registered by the state Lokayukta. In a written reply to Congress legislator Umang Singhar in the Assembly, Chouhan informed the House that 2,675 cases of corruption were registered against Lokayukta in the state.
Benefits should reach farmers
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed district collectors to ensure that the benefit of wheat procurement on support price should reach the real farmers of Madhya Pradesh only. Chouhan said that monitoring should be undertaken that traders and middlemen do not take advantage of this scheme. He was addressing district collectors on wheat procurement process through videoconferencing at the Mantralaya here on Wednesday.
Courses in organic farming soon
Bhopal: Farmers' Welfare Minister Ramkrishna Kusmaria has said that diploma and degree courses on the subject of organic farming are proposed to be started with a view to connecting educated rural youths to organic farming in the state. Private-public participation will also be promoted in this sector. A proposal to establish State Organic Farming Fund is also under consideration.

1,22,422 infants died in four years
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government today admitted in the Assembly that 1,22,422 infants died of various ailments in the state over the past four years. In a written reply to Mahendra Singh Kalukheda (Cong), Health Minister Anup Mishra quoted a National Family Health Survey report as saying that 60 per cent were victims of malnourishment while between 2005-06 and 2008-09 there were 1,22,422 fatalities due to malaria, pneumonia, diarrhoea and measles.
Bedlam in House on budget discussion
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly today plunged into chaos when the Opposition and Treasury benches got into verbal duel during a general discussion on the Budget. Vishwas Sarang of BJP compared the working style of the erstwhile Congress regime with the BJP government and claimed that the latter is far ahead in every sector.
Participate in ‘Apna MP Scheme’: CM
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called upon the women representing half of the state’s population to be a partner in the campaign being carried out to realize the goal of ‘Apna Madhya Pradesh Banao’. Describing the women as the axis of the family, the Chief Minister observed that with their involvement in the campaign, the children and male members of the family would too find themselves get associated with the campaign facilitating easy access to the goal of this mega campaign.
37 schemes for slum dwellers
Bhopal: Implementation on 37 schemes for construction of pucca houses for the poor and improvement of slums is going on at a fast pace in 34 cities of Madhya Pradesh. The cost of these schemes being conducted under Integrated Housing and Slum Improvement Project is Rs 27035.99 lakh.
Development of tribal villages
Bhopal: The poor families of about 3,000 tribal-dominant villages have chalked out detailed schemes for the development of their respective villages. The development schemes have been chalked out with the cooperation of rural communities in the villages situated in Jhabua, Dhar, Barwani, Alirajpur, Shahdol, Anuppur, Mandla, Dindori and Sheopur. This will help Gram Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats, Zila Panchayats and district administration to assess the situation of development in the rural areas, chalk out future plans and start various new programmes for development.
Eligible forest dwellers being provided pattas
Bhopal: The Tribal Welfare Department is implementing Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition to Forest Rights) Act in Madhya Pradesh on top priority. Under this Act, eligible forest dwellers are being provided pattas for forest land under their possession. Pattas have been distributed among more than 79 thousand forest dwellers so far.
