Congress meeting to chalk out strategy

Bhopal, Mar 03: A high-level meeting of Madhya Pradesh Congress is scheduled in New Delhi on Tuesday to chalk out a strategy for upcoming assembly elections. Almost all the senior party leaders belong to the state are likely to participate in the meeting. Party sources said that in past four years this is for the first time when the party charged up with the appointment of new state president Suresh Pachauri holding such a meeting at AICC office.

AICC General Secretary and in charge of Madhya Pradesh V Narayan Sami and AICC Secretary Jitin Prasad would also remain present. Main political leaders who are likely to attend the meeting are Union Ministers Arjun Singh, Kamal Nath and Kantilal Bhuria, Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia, and senior party leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi. Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi and president of state election campaign in charge Ajay Singh have also left for Delhi on Monday.

Sources said that the issues which would be discussed in the meeting are- strategy for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, farmers’ rally scheduled in Delhi on March 9, and preparations for the assembly elections scheduled in November this year. In past four years, this is for the first time, when such a meeting has been convened at New Delhi giving importance to Madhya Pradesh. Political observers believe that this is an effort of Union Minister and State Congress president Suresh Pachauri to bring al the senior party leaders of the state on one platform. Soon after being nominated as state Congress president, Pachauri had made efforts to contact all the leaders. He too publicly told that he has blessings from al senior party leaders hailing from the state.
