Three including twins drown in Balaghat

Bhopal, May 04: In a heart-rending incident, three youths of a family, including twins and their nephew were drowned in a river at Garra village of Balaghat district on Sunday morning. One of the three youths, who got drowned, was pursuing MBBS from Jabalpur Medical College and got married on May 1.

Homeguard divers fished out the bodies, which were later handed to family members after post-mortem. Police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and launched investigation. A pall of gloom descended over a locality in Balaghat district on Sunday afternoon when three youths of a family drowned in the river. Police informed that Satyendra (26) and Mahendra (26), both sons of Bakhtram, were twins. While, Mahendra was pursuing MBBS Final Year from the Jabalpur Medical College and got married on May 1, his sibling was LIC development officer.

The twins along with their nephew Jitendra son of Rajendra Meshram (22) had gone to Wainganga River near Garra village to have bath. Jitendra’s mother Usha Meshram, who is sister of the twins, had also accompanied the trio to the river. The trio reportedly ventured into deep water and drowned, as they did not know swimming. It was informed that the twins drowned in an attempt to save the nephew who somehow ventured into deep water. Jitendra’s mother shrieked for help but to no avail. Later, the cops fished out the bodies with the help of Homeguard divers and sent them for postmortem.

Cops informed that Mahendra came to his ancestral place in Balaghat district for tying knot. He got married on May 1. Usha Mehsram reportedly went to river to wash clothes and the trio went with her to give her company. SP Balaghat Harinarayan Chari Mishra during a telephonic conversation informed that the bodies were handed over to family members after autopsy.
