Criminal case against Vet official

Bhopal, Apr 05: The State Bureau of Investigation for Economic Offenses (SBIEO) on Saturday registered a case against deputy director and account section in charge of Veterinary Services Shivpuri. The duo was accused of financial irregularities to the tune of more than Rs 1.5 crore while withdrawing money from GPF and other heads.

Earlier, the Bureau had registered a preliminary enquiry against the officials in December 2006. The case was registered against the duo under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The then deputy director of Veterinary Services Shivpuri MS Sengar and in charge of Accounts Section Mirza Mehmood Baig allegedly adopted anomaly while withdrawing amount from GPF and other heads. About Rs 1.89 crore was allegedly withdrawn from December 2001 to October 2002 in the process.

The Bureau had registered the preliminary enquiry (PE) against the duo in December 2006. The Bureau on completion of investigation registered a case under sections 420, 467, 468 and 120 (b) of the IPC and 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on Saturday. Director General of the Bureau SK Raut confirmed that the duo was booked under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
