Bhopal, Mat 05: A School Chalen Abhiyan would be carried out for enrolment of non-schoolgoing and dropout tribal children in schools. The Tribal Welfare Department has drawn up an action plan for year 2008-09 for this purpose. Under this, a campaign would be conducted in May and June to motivate parents of such children to send them to school.
Besides, dropout and non-enrolled children would be identified. Special care would be taken to ensure that no child is left out of school upto 11th class in tribal areas. The Commissioner, Tribal Development Jaideep Govind has issued directives to ensure implementation of the action plan as per the calendar prepared for this. The campaign aims at ensuring enrolment of cent percent children of school going age, bringing the dropout rate to the minimum level and gradually bringing it to zero, increasing the literacy rate and to enhance awareness of tribals about education.
Various activities would be carried out during the Abhiyan in May and June. Habitations having higher number of non-enrolled and dropout children would be identified and efforts would be made to bring them to schools. For this, a committee would be constituted comprising male and female teachers, presidents of PTAs, panchayat representatives, Patels etc. A Praveshotsav would be organized on July 1,2008, the first day of new academic session. Local public representatives, office bearers of PTAs, representatives of panchayats and civic bodies would be invited to the function where free textbooks would be distributed to the children.
As per the action plan a core group would be constituted at state level, meetings of Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and District Organisers would be held and preparations for the Abhiyan would be reviewed through video conferencing. Similarly, district level core groups would also be constituted, meetings of Block Education Officers would be held and progress would be reviewed through video conferencing. Public announcements would be made and leaflets would also be distributed in this regard. Block level core groups would also be constituted and the progress of the campaign would be reviewed weekly. At Praveshotsav free textbooks and bi-cycles would be distributed to the children. Mid day meal would also be served to them. Parents of newly enrolled children would be felicitated on the occasion.
