Consumer Protection Day on March 15
Bhopal, Jan 06: Persons and voluntary organisations making important contribution in consumer protection sector would be honoured on the occasion of Consumer Protection Day on March 15. The state government has set March 5 as the last date for filing applications for the same. Under the state-level award scheme persons and organisations actively involved in consumers' protection would be given first prize to the tune of Rs 15,000 each, second prize of Rs 10,000 and third prize of Rs 5,000.
Letters of commendation would also be given along with the awards. Three prizes would be given at the division level. They would be to tune of Rs 3,000 for first prize, Rs 2,000 for second prize and Rs 1,000 for third prize. In shortlisting of these prizes priority would be given to rural, tribal and backward areas. The selection of awardees would be made on the basis of their achievements from January 1 to December 31 during the calendar year 2007.
The consumer forums intending to apply for the award must be registered under Firms and Societies Registration Act 1960 or a similar law. It would also be taken under consideration during the selection process that that applicant person or organisation should have been active in the activities related to consumer protection for the last three years. At the same time, the organisation should be non-political is not owned by anyone.
For the state-level awards persons/organisations should submit their applications to the collector by March 5. In turn, the collector would forward the applications along with his recommendation to Commissioner-cum-Director Food. For divisional award the collector would forward the application along with his recommendation to concerning Commissioner. Persons/organisations willing to apply for the award can also send advance copies of their applications directly Food Directorate. Applications received with delay would not be entertained.
