Vijay Sankalp Yatras to continue: Advani
Jabalpur, Feb 06: Accusing Congress of creating the unresolved boundary problems with Pakistan and China, Leader of Opposition and BJP's prime ministerial candidate LK Advani said the saffron party shall resolve these `legacy problems' without compromising country's national interest and honour. “India has been saddled with unresolved boundary problems with two of our big neighbours – Pakistan and China. Both the problems were created due to bungling of Congress governments,” Advani said, addressing a Vijay Sankalp Yatra here.
Accusing Congress of adopting a soft stand towards terrorists due to `vote bank politics', the saffron leader said successive Congress governments have reduced the country to a `soft state' that lacked political will at the top to confront the terrorists and neutralise them. “The Congress party's inaction is directed by its short-term vote-bank considerations, because of which it is imperiling country's unity, integrity and security in a long run,” he said, describing `jehadi terrorism and Maoists terrorism' as two major threats to country's internal security.
He also blamed the UPA government for encouraging infiltration from Bangladesh into the country and sought to know from the Prime Minister, how many terror modules were destroyed so also the arrest and prosecution of the accused in terror attacks across the country. Coming down, heavily on the delay in deciding the clemency petition of Afzal Guru, sentenced to death in the attack on the Parliament, he sought a reply from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, why the Supreme Court order for his capital punishment was not executed.
He called for a change of guard at the Centre, levelling charges of corruption and spiraling prices of essential commodities. Advani claimed that BJP and NDA will provide not only an alternative government, but also an alternative culture of governance with ideals of `Sushasan, Vikas and Suraksha (Good governance, development and security)'. He said the Vjay Sankalp Yatra was aimed at making people aware of the prevailing circumstances in the country and for building up a "new Bharat" where no farmer would commit suicide, there would be no threat to the nation's security and corruption would end. The yatra was not a political campaign (for next Lok Sabha polls). Rather it was a public training exercise. It will later merge into BJP's campaign, he said. The BJP, leader also called for education of every girl child saying it would help educate an entire family.
