New AICC functionaries in MP soon

Bhopal, Apr 07: Madhya Pradesh Congress would have new in-charge General Secretary and Secretary soon. Indications are that in keeping with ‘one man one post’ norm, the Congress high command will send new set of AICC functionaries for the state.

Following AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Youth Congress Rahul Gandhi's refusal to join the Union Government, the Congress has made it clear that ‘one man one post’ norm would strictly be followed in case of AICC General Secretary V Narayan Sami and Secretary Jitin Prasad. Party would claimed that AICC cannot wait for long to declare new office bearers in-charge of Madhya Pradesh affairs as countdown for state assembly elections has already begun. Since, Betul by-election is in process and polling is scheduled on April 12, sources claimed that anytime after Betul election, new charges would be allotted to AICC office bearers.

The ‘one man one post’ norm is a convention prevailing in AICC under which a leader is not allowed to hold two posts at a time. There have been several instances that on receiving second responsibility, the leaders had to quit from the first. On the contrary, if Narayan Sami and Jitin continue to hold dual charges, it will signal that party Chief Sonia Gandhi has given a quiet burial to the one-man, one-post norm in the Congress. However, the ‘one-man one-post’ convention has always been controversial, leading to many a titanic battle within the party. Besides, party sources claimed that holding both the charges would be difficult for both the leaders, as being in the government; it would not be possible for them to visit Madhya Pradesh frequently in the election year.
