Police inspector attempts suicide

Gwalior, May 07: The SHO of Malanpur (Bhind) police station Ramakant Bajpai attempted suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday night. Family dispute is reported to be the reason behind his taking this extreme step. He was admitted in a private hospital from where he was referred to Delhi.

The police sealed the room in which was Bajpai was found unconscious. A resident of Morar, Bajpai was recruited in police service in 1982 as sub inspector. Based on his good performance, he was promoted out of turn as an inspector. Currently he was posted in Malanpur police station. He was found in unconscious condition at 4.30 am in his Malanpur based residence. The police officers of Bhind district were immediately informed and Bajpai was brought to Gwalior and was admitted in a private hospital. His condition was so serious that his pulse rate was very low.

He was immediately put on ventilator. Since, the condition of Bajpai deteriorated; he was rushed to Delhi for better treatment under the supervision of a team of doctors. According to information, Bajpai was on night patrol duty with a constable on Tuesday. After returning from home, he took meals and after some time, Bajpai told the constable that his body was aching because he has consumed poison. The bewildered constable immediately informed the ASI Bhavati Prasad who arranged to take Bajpai to Gwalior. The police are investigation the case.
