PNDT Act Supervisory Board meeting

Bhopal, Jan 08: Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi chaired a meeting of state-level Pre Natal Diagnosis Test (PNDT) Act Supervisory Board. Concern was expressed at decreasing female ratio in the state and stress was laid on chalking out a time-bound action plan to check this trend. Principal Secretary Health MM Upadhyay, other officers and office-bearers of social organisations were also present on the occasion.

Giving instructions to register ultrasonography machines, Health Minister Vishnoi said that unregistered ultrasonography machines should be immediately sealed. In this connection, the Health Minister instructed Harda collector to seal the unregistered ultrasonography machines in the district immediately. He also exhorted Health Directorate officers to cooperate in this connection. The committee has also instructed that all the directorate-level officers should remain present at the meetings of district collectors so that the collector can give them proper guidance to them after reviewing works related to PNDT Act.

The committee decided that collectors, superintendents of police and health officers should be given guidance through video-conferencing. The committee decided to prepare publicity matter for curbing female embryo killing so that all the Anganwadi activists and women health activists can be made aware. Committee was informed about the possibility of sex determination through blood test and there is a need to inform Union government about this. The supervisory committee meeting was held at Vallabh Bhawan on Monday.
