Assembly elections in leadership of Shivraj

Bhopal, Jan 09: The ruling BJP will fight upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh scheduled to take place in November this year under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. A proposal to this effect was passed unanimously during the two-day brainstorming session (Chintan Baithak), to evaluate the work done by the government in the state in the past four years, which concluded here on Wednesday.

The proposal asserted that unprecedented development work had been carried out under the leadership of Chouhan. State in charge party general secretary Ananth Kumar Singh and BJP organisational general secretary Ramlal were also present. After the meeting concluded, state BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar, after the meeting told media persons that a nine-member committee had been formed to look into works carried out by the government in the past four years. The committee would submit its report by January 15. The committee included MPs Thawarchand Gehlot, Nandkumar Chouhan and Maya Singh, former union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste, ministers Himmat Kothari, Ajay Vishnoi and Raghunandan Sharma, and Ajay Pratap Singh.

On whether a committee had been formed in view of defeats of the party in recent by-polls, he said the committee would review overall performance of the party. However, he added that formation of the committee and other related aspects were inner matters of the party. Tomar said that being election year, the forthcoming strategy of the party for contesting assembly election was discussed openly. Better suggestions have also come up in view of election management, he added. On whether the next assembly elections would be fought under 'Modi' pattern, Tomar said situations were different in different states. He alleged that the Centre was meting out step-motherly treatment to Madhya Pradesh. A demonstration would be organised at block level across the state on January 21 against this. Besides, death anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay would be observed upto Mandal level on February 11.
