UNICEF to train 776 supervisors

Bhopal, Jan 09: With the cooperation of UNICEF, intensive training would be imparted to 776 supervisors appointed by Women and Child Development Department, from January 21 to 26. These supervisors would be responsible for smooth conduct and implementation of child development schemes at Anganwadi level. This training programme is organised at divisional level. Before this training training would be organised from January 10 to 11 to those who would be imparting training to the newly-appointed supervisors. This training would be imparted at the two-day workshop with the help of UNICEF.

Women and Child Development Department has recently appointed 776 supervisors. Half of these supervisors have been recruited directly while the remaining 338 supervisors have been selected from among Anganwadi workers. Every supervisor's sector of work covers 25 Anganwadis. The main responsibilities of supervisors would be implementation, monitoring and evaluation of child development schemes.

The six-day training would be imparted to the newly appointed supervisors with the cooperation of UNICEF. These training programmes would be organised at divisional level by divisional joint directors. During the training programme help would be taken from Master Trainer, trainer of nearby Anganwadi trainer and UNICEF employees. UNICEF would extend its cooperation in the provision of kits, training material and slide presentation. Divisional officers have been given instructions to arrange venue for training programme, food and lady doctor.

With a view to ensuring training programme's success, UNICEF is organising a two-day workshop for trainers' training from January 10 to 11 from 9 am to 5 pm at Hotel Surendra Vilas. Detailed discussions would be held with the trainees at the workshop on the subject matter, module, training kit, time-table and methods of imparting training. Maximum four persons from each division would take part in the workshop. After the training directly-recruited supervisors would be sent to Indore-based training institute for the training stipulated by the Union government while the supervisors selected from among Anganwadi workers would be given field postings.

After this workshop, supervisors would be imparted six-day training in detail. During the training newly appointed supervisors would be informed about discharge of their duties, result-oriented and smooth implementation of various child development programmes. Supervisors would be trained to coordinate with Woman and Child Development and Health Departments and Panchayati Raj institutions. Other areas covered by the training would include imbibing consultation skill, communicative skill, art of achieving basic purpose of the schemes, ensuring mass participation, constant monitoring of programmes' implementation, exact assessment, preparation of progress report, organising meetings and creating congenial atmosphere. The new supervisors would also be briefed about their role and duties in the implementation of Bal Sanjivani Yojana, Shaktimaan Project, Muskan Project, Bal Shakti Yojana, Mangal Diwas, Godbharai, Anna Prashanna schemes, Ladli Laxmi Yojana and other ambitious schemes. They would also be trained in chalking out beneficial strategies.

When the supervisors would assume their duties, the Woman and Child Development Department would impart them a four-day training at the Project Office about works related to forms, schemes and reporting. For the next three days supervisors would be trained in holding sector-related meeting with other supervisor, house visit and reporting. The young and newly appointed supervisors would be imparted training for further two days of conducting an Anganwadi centre, non-formal pre-school education, nutritious food and reporting about these works.
