‘Vision Micro Finance-2012 MP’ unveiled

Bhopal, May 09: At a function here today, Finance Minister Raghavji and Woman and Child Development Minister Kusum Mehdele unveiled the document titled 'Vision Micro Finance-2012 Madhya Pradesh'. The document has been released by Access Development Services Bhopal and Friends of Women World Banking Ahmedabad.

Finance Minister Raghavji while mentioning financial literacy said that ignorance of fiscal management has been the main cause of economic exploitation in the rural areas. He said that it was utmost necessary to impart financial literacy to rural people for their economic empowerment. But it must be given in a very simply way and by connecting it to examples, references and contexts available in the rural areas so that villagers can grasp the concept easily. He said that fiscal management has been prevalent in the country since ancient times. But in those eras a needy person had to depend on the local money lender who exploited him economically. The time has changed. Now banks and non-government organisations can impart knowledge of fiscal management to rural people with broader perspective and make their lives economically stronger.

Mehdele said that this is a good effort for economic empowerment of villagers by training rural women in fiscal management. She said every effort by us must aim at bringing smiles on the faces of the poor. She said that there is still need for searching ways for removing poverty. About the schemes launched by the state government for economic uplift of villagers, she said that efforts are being undertaken for total fulfillment of aims of these schemes. Deputy Chairman of Planning Board Sompal Shastri said that instead of choosing a large area for poverty removal, its beginning should be made from a village. He said that schemes for financial management should be chalked out while keeping in mind requirements, condition and grass root realties of an area. He expressed the fear that plans might not be implemented effectively in view of economic unbalance and discrepancies.
