Two more SIMI activists nabbed
Bhopal, Apr 12: In its ongoing drive against the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Madhya Pradesh police on Saturday arrested two more SIMI activists from Indore. City Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh said Mohammed Shahid and Burhanpur-resident Syed Iqbal were arrested today. They were involved in raising money for SIMI. Syed had been arrested earlier also for allegedly having connections with SIMI.
So far, police have arrested about 50 SIMI activists and supporters from various parts of Madhya Pradesh, including 22 from Indore, in the past fortnight. Meanwhile, alleging that innocent people were being arrested on the pretext of being Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) member, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal should also be banned like SIMI. Singh told reporters at Guna that he was the first to recommend ban on SIMI, as it was fannig riots. However, he alleged that the state government was nabbing innocent people in the ongoing drive of nailing down the SIMI associates. Terming the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal similar to SIMI, he said the organisations were also involved in spreading riots and he favoured ban on them.
Regarding inflation, he claimed that at present when the world is facing the problem of price rise, India is in better position as compared to the other developed countries. “There is no shortage of essential commodities in the country but hoarders and black marketers raised the prices. The state government should raid hoarders to curb artificial inflation,” Singh added.
