Report on irregularities in MANIT
Bhopal, Apr 13: The enquiry report into the alleged irregularities at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is likely to be submitted during the Board of Governors (BoG) meeting on April 18. The three-member committee is enquiring the alleged irregularities in appointments and promotions. Meanwhile Parakram Jansevi Sansthan (PJS) president Sharad Singh Kumre has alleged that the outcome was not likely to unearth the irregularities as the accused officers were still holding key responsibilities in the institution.
The three-member committee headed by SN Shukla, former DGP Chhattisgarh is enquiring the alleged irregularities at MANIT. The two other members of the committee are Sapan Bhattacharya, director NIT Kurukshetra and IS Rao director NIT Warangal. The Union HRD ministry had directed the chairman BOG to form the committee in October last year. The committee's report is likely to be discussed during the BoG meeting on April 18.
The committee is said to have enquiring the alleged irregularities in several matters like 51 appointments against the vacant posts of lectures in 2005, which also included various recruitment to the post of Professors and Assistant Professors with ineligible candidates and appointment to the post of Training and Placement Officer against the norms and various perks and promotions setting setting aside all the rules.
Earlier, the Buch enquiry committee has also mentioned these anomalies including the recruitment of institute faculties Ashutosh Sharma, Aruna Saxena and Abhay Sharma. The PJS president alleged that the outcome of the enquiry report was likely to be affected as the guilty officers were still holding key positions in the institution. He has also demanded that the enquiry report should be submitted to the BoG chairman or the Government of India.
