UAD to conduct biometric survey

Bhopal, Apr 13: To assure the identity of the urban poor who are benefiting from the ongoing pilot projects, the Urban Administration and Development Department (UAD) is all set to initiate a biometric survey in the State. The survey would be carried under the MPUSP scheme work. It will broadly cover all the 48 districts of Madhya Pradesh.

The survey work will include the door-to-door collection of summary information on household dwellers, resident's house type, tenure and status along with the biometric finger print data of the household and a digital photograph of the family and dwelling unit. The collected data will also be compiled into the database, capable of data migration with a central server. The District Collectors would be directed to provide information to surveying agency on the location of households for conducting the survey and to accord all the possible assistance in collecting the records.

The UAD department has already invited tenders for the purpose and the data collection work will be completed within two months. The authorities concerned informed that to conduct the survey preference would be given to the companies those have access to biometric devices. There are a number of foreign and Central funded projects and schemes including Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNRUM) and UK Department for International (DFID) ongoing in the State. The project aims to benefit the urban poor in various selected districts of the State. The upcoming survey will not only help in ascertaining the identity of the target group of the projects but will also keep a check on irregularities of the projects.
