Sardar Angress passes away

Gwalior, Mar 15: Senior BJP leader Sardar Sambhajirao Angre, a close aide of veteran BJP leader late Vijayraje Scindia, died at his residence here early this morning following renal failure.  He was 85. Angre, who was earlier associated with Jana Sangh and later BJP, was Secretary to Ms Scindia for a long time. He is survived by son Tulajirao Angre and daughter Chitralekha. His funeral is scheduled here this evening, family sources said.

A former Rajya Sabha member, Angre was undergoing treatment in a Delhi hospital for kidney problems and he was brought here on Friday, the sources added. Angre remained close to the Scindia family for a long time, but of late the relations seemed soured due to property disputes. Meanwhile, at Bhopal, BJP's Madhya Pradesh unit expressed deep sorrow on the death of Angre and expressed its condolences to the bereaved family.

In a condolence message, state BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar and organisational General Secretary Makhan Singh said Angre had devoted his life to the organisation and society. “His death caused the void of an able organiser and his contribution would be remembered for a long time,” they added. Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jhakhar and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condoled on the death of senior BJP leader Sardar Sambhajirao Angre, who died in Gwalior on Saturday following renal failure. In his condolence message, Jhakhar said that Angre had made efforts for the betterment of the state throughout his life. With his demise state has lost a devoted social worker. Chouhan said that the services rendered by Angre in the development of the state would always be remembered. In his death BJP has lost his senior organiser and thinker.
