EOW files case against officer

Bhopal, Jan 16: Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) has registered a case against sales officer of MP Bunkar Sahkari Sangh Satna for embezzlement of funds. The accused has been booked under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act. He has allegedly misused about Rs 10 lakh received from the Collector's office as payment in return of the services rendered by the government's department.

The then Director of the MP Handlooms and Handicrafts Manish Singh lodged a complaint against the Sales Manager Umesh Jain on July 7, 2006. The Wing conducted preliminary enquiry and registered the case after gathering evidences in support of allegation.   Jain while being posted as Sales Manager of Bunkar Sahkari Sangh Satna received payments in part worth about Rs 10 lakh from the Satna Collectorate between the years 1999 to 2001. The man instead of depositing the amount in government's account misappropriated it.

The Director of MP Handlooms and Handicrafts Manish Singh on getting acquainted with irregularities lodged a complaint with the EOW in this regard. The Wing following initial inquiry eventually booked the accused. The case has been registered under section 420, 409, 467 and 468 of the IPC and under sections 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
