BJP legislators are tense over ‘Modi formula’

Bhopal, Jan 17: The BJP legislators are tense over possibility of ‘Modi formula’ getting implemented in Madhya Pradesh during the ticket distribution for assembly elections scheduled in November this year. In the recently held Chintan Baithak (brain storming meeting) of party leaders at Sanchi, it was decided that all ‘non-performing’ MLAs could be denied ticket by implementing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s formula. Modi won the elections because he changed almost one third of the sitting MLAs.

Sources said that Madhya Pradesh BJP and the Chief Minister’s secretariat is finalising list of performing, average and non-performing MLAs. This has forced the ministers and BJP MLAs concentrating more on their respective constituencies. This way, the ministers are facing problems as besides their constituencies, they have been given charge of two to three other districts. With this fear of implementing Modi formula, the party legislators have started passing the buck on ministers and Members of Parliament for not able to perform well in their constituencies. Seven party MLAs of Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency have written to Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh against Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh for not paying attention on development works.

These MLAs included Matotrao Khabse from Pandhurna, Nanabhau from Saunsar, Tarachand Bhawari from Parasiya, and Ramdas Uikey from Jamai. Chief Minister has assured them to personally visit the schemes in the constituencies. Besides, former minister and party MLA from Katni Alka Jain has sought permission from state orgnaisaitonal general secretary Makhan Singh for initiating agitation with long pending demand of her region. She alleged that Khirni Fatak over-bridge was not constructed in past four years, and other problems of drinking water and roads continue to prevail. Similarly, former minister and MLA from Burhanpur Archana Chitnis has also raised problems of her constituency, before state party chief. It is a known fact that she is not getting along with Member of Parliament Nand Kumar Chouhan.
