State govt falling short of expectations: Ahmed

Bhopal, Jan 18: Accusing Madhya Pradesh's Bharatiya Janata Party regime of falling short of public expectation, Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Shakeel Ahmad today said people were vexed over several problems including corruption. “The government has failed on the development, law and order and minorities' security fronts. Even the chief minister and his family members are charged with corruption,” he added.

Ahmed was talking to media persons here on Friday. He alleged that BJP is sheltering anti-socials that are involved in attacking minorities. “People of both the major communities want to live together in Madhya Pradesh, but with the policy of the BJP differences are being created between them,” he added. He further alleged that corruption is at its high in the state. The by-election results are evident that the people are fed up with the BJP regime and need a change. In coming elections, Congress would certainly come to power in Madhya Pradesh.

Talking about the Suryanamaskar programmes and its induction in school curriculum, Ahmed stated that the state government should not indulge in such fishy things and concentrate on development issues. Talking about his marathon meeting with postal and BSNL officials on Friday, he informed that equipment required for broadband facility, has been received and now there would be no waitlist for connection seekers. As many as 200 new towers and multiple system centers (MSCs) would soon be installed, to overcome the problems of congestion, improvement in voice quality and coverage area, he added. He said, “I have asked the officials to seriously look into the problems of people and solve it.” He accepted that there are problems of inflated billing in BSNL mobile and landline, stating that there are quite few cases, but claimed that officials have been asked such complaint should not occur.

Ahmed stated that there are several schemes on the anvil through postal department. The postal department has joined hands with HDFC bank, under which those possessing Kisan Vikas Patra could get loans upto Rs 20 lakh. Besides, in coming days, postmen would be engaged in address verification work for mobile phone seekers. The mobile companies would pay the fee to postmen against this work. Even the postmen would also be engaged in voters’ list identity verification. “Air tickets of cheap fare plains would also be made available in village post-offices and in coming days the department is planning to open 1,100 new post-offices in the country,” he added.
