Process for contractual teachers begins

Bhopal, Apr 18: As per the decision taken by the present state government, process has begun to appoint contractual teachers in teacher cadre. In this connection screening committees are being constituted at various levels to check eligibility of concerning contractual teachers for which norms have been laid down.

For the purpose detailed guidelines have been issued through a letter to all the District Collectors, Municipal Corporations' Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers of District Panchayat and District Education Officers. A strategy has been chalked out to put into practice this move in the light of state cabinet's decision. Chief Executive Officers of District Panchayat would head the screening committees at the District Panchayat and Janpad Panchayat levels. Its members would include Chief Executive Officer of the concerning Janpad Panchayat and an officer of scheduled caste or scheduled tribe category while District Education Officer or Chief Executive Officer of concerning Nagar Palika or Nagar Panchayat would be its member-secretaries.

The president of the screening committee at the Nagar Palika and Nagar Panchayat levels would be nominated by the District Collector. It's members would include District Education Officer or Assistant Commissioner Tribal Welfare and an officer belonging either to scheduled caste or scheduled tribe category while Chief Executive Officer of the concerning Nagar Palika or Nagar Panchayat would be the member-secretary. Screening committees would be constituted at Municipal Corporation level also which would be headed by Commissioner of the concerning Municipal Corporation.

A person nominated by the District Collector or an officer belonging either to schedule caste or scheduled tribe category would be its members and District Education Officer or Assistant Commissioner Tribal Welfare would be the member-secretary. Practical assessment of contractual teachers to appointment in teacher cadre would be undertaken. A contractual teacher aspiring to be appointed in teacher cadre must have completed three year's service. The screening committee would check whether his work during these three years as per the laid down norms. Similarly, the contractual teacher must also have a degree in education/training as per norms. Detailed information about the fixed norms has also been issued.
