Unique initiative by Shivraj in state

Bhopal, Feb 19: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s strategy to convene special sessions targeting special group has a huge draw in Madhya Pradesh. Chouhan has been inviting wide representation from women, farmers, kotwars, tribals, Scheduled Caste, artisans and other segments of the society to Bhopal in panchayats.

They are given patient hearing and specific decisions taken on the spot to improve their lot. The presence of bureaucracy, political leaders, NGOs and other concerned persons make it a grand success. The arrangements are such that after opening remarks of Chief Minister, representatives of sections are heard and CM in consultation with bureaucracy announces redressal of their grievances. There have been instances when the suggestions received from these sections of societies, were included in the policies framed targeting those groups. It is a unique practice initiated by Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, where participants are invited, given boarding, lodging and get to see for themselves how BJP regime is trying to improve their lot. Many a time, CM’s residences served as venue for such panchayats.

This time, much larger public is expected at the Kisan Mahapanchayat and thus the biggest ground in the state capital- Jamboori has been selected for it. The representatives of farmers have started reaching Bhopal since night. Few other panchayats for doctors, folk artists, physically challenged and others are also in the pipeline. Officials believe that this is an effort to seek help from the common people before taking any decision about particular section, formulating any policy or initiating any project for them. “People have been called voiceless majority. Earlier, their voice was heard only during monitoring of any scheme etc, but this initiative of Shivraj has given a platform to the common people,” they added. The also stated that in front of such a huge crowd, when a member speaks out by being within their folks, he takes pride. This is a kind of social facilitation provided to them. They are not mere spectators, but they are co-passengers on the platform of development, they added.
