International conference at RGTU ends

Bhopal, Mar 20: Three-day international mechanical engineering conference at RGTU was concluded here Thursday, with the identification of new horizons for mechanical engineering research and innovations. The concluding day started with a session on science and spirituality.

These include clean energy technology development, bio fuel research, fusion technology for nuclear energy, new and smart materials, micro and nano machines, computation of large scale complex fluid flow systems, agile manufacturing, bio mechanical engineering and research on ethical and moral dimensions of new technologies specially relating to molecular manufacturing and intelligent system engineering. At which the first session, the electro mechanical aspects of human bio mechanical machine and its interaction with the forces of nature and energy of the environment was discussed to examine the synergy between science and spirituality.

In the presentation on automobiles a paper by RR Saraf, SS Tipse and PK Saxena on use of diesel and CNG in a dual fuel mode was considered important for reduction of exhaust emissions. In another paper by Md Aghsaee and Hamadani from Iran the effect of auto ignition timing on reduction of nitrous oxide emissions was presented. Presentations on research on solar hybrid energy storage systems and use of quantum dots in solar panel attracted the attention of the delegates. In the bio fuel session in the clean energy and bio fuel session AC Tiwari and Prof PB Sharma presented the results of an experimental study on use of neat bio diesel in a diesel engine. Another study by N Haribabu, Appa Rao on use of Pongamia Methyl ester in CI engine was also presented. Papers were also presented on knowledge management based supply chain and management of flexibility in manufacturing.
