Important meeting for PET Monday

Bhopal, Apr 20: Amid the uncertainty over the fate of Pre Engineering Test (PET), the crucial meeting of Technical Education Minister Nagendra Singh would take place at the office of Admission and Fee Regulation Committee in the morning.

State Government is under the scanner for the yet unannounced schedule for the PET. Private have already forwarded suggestions like holding the exams themselves or allotting the seats without the entrance test on intermediate merit basis. Some concrete information is likely to come out of the proposed meeting of Technical Education Minister regarding the details of holding the PET in the state for allotting seats in the engineering colleges of the state at AFRC on Mondat at 12 noon. The proposed meeting is likely to include the members of the committee and the education department officials.

The matter was in the spotlight for quite some time as the state government is to declare the guidelines of the proposed test. The decision on proposed management quota is also pending. Speculations were making rounds in the capital in the last week regarding the fate of the test. State Government is also yet to finalise the details of the management quota and provision for financially weak students as announced last year. The government pressure from the private colleges and the students wants to hasten things for staging the test with immediate effect. In Monday’s meeting the minister is likely to finalise the details of the proposed test and the quota issue.
