Fate of MPCC chief hangs in balance
Bhopal, Dec 05: The fate of Madhya Pradesh Congress president Subhash Yadav hangs in balance as Arun Yadav, son of PCC chief Subhash Yadav is in the fray in Khargone by-election. The state Congress Committee (MPCC) has been pending for months but now litmus test is on in Khargone.
Political observers believe that the verdict of voters in Khargone Lok Sabha by-election would decide the fate of Subhash whether he would continue in the office till assembly elections, or would have to step down. Since his son is in the fray his personal stakes are high. Even during decision for ticket in the constituency, when Subhash was lobbying in New Delhi for fielding his son Arun Yadav with the help of Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia and AICC General Secretary V Narayan Sami, his opponent former chief minister and AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh and other rivals did not oppose him considering that Yadav himself was getting into trap.
He is leaving no stone unturned to make his son victorious. He has contacted almost all the party leaders forgetting old differences and rivalries. He also requested his opponent Digvijay Singh. Since he was busy in Gujarat assembly elections, he expressed inability to reach Khargone, but managed the visit of Member of Parliament Sachin Pilot’s visit in the constituency. He is reaching there on Thursday. The logic of anti-Subhash camp is if he can not make his son win in home turf, how he will lead the entire Congress in the assembly elections scheduled next year. Arun’s victory would consolidate his hold over state Congress and he would continue in the office till 2008 assembly polls. Poll observers believe that ruling BJP is also facing problem in the constituency with the presence of so many Congress leaders campaigning. On the other hand, they have only a couple of tribal leaders, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and State BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar to canvass.
