Jamuna writes to Chidambaram and IT officials
Bhopal, Dec 09: Shocked with the Income Tax department giving clean-chit to Sadhna Singh, wife of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi has written to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Income Tax Commissioner to provide investigation report in the income tax evasion complaint against Sadhna Singh. Despite being Income Tax department coming under the purview of Central Government, Jamuna Devi alleged that Sadhna Singh was given clean-chit under a conspiracy under the influence of Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan must be feeling relieved. The IT officials haven't found substance in the complaint filed by Leader of Opposition regarding Sadhna Singh's income. Jamuna Devi had sought an inquiry into her IT returns so as to ascertain her annual income and whether it was enough to enable her to deposit margin money to obtain a loan for purchase of four dumpers. The scandal related to the dumpers had put Shivraj Singh in a real tight corner.
After scrutinizing the documents and holding detailed investigations including recording statements of Sadhna Singh, the IT officials were convinced that there was nothing amiss in the IT records. They are also satisfied with the reply given by the CM's wife to their communication seeking explanation in the matter. As per the investigations Sadhna Singh was found to have enough funds available that could have been utilised for margin money to purchase dumpers.
