Congress to take no-confidence motion in public
Bhopal, Nov 28: Opposition parties led by the Congress would stage a road blockade across Madhya Prdaesh and 'bring no-confidence motion’ against the government in people's court in the much-debated dumpers purchase case. Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi while talking to media persons in the premises of Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday said, “A date would soon be finalised after discussion with all the opposition parties and 'chakka jam' would be staged between 12 noon to 4 pm on a particular date in the second week of December.”
She said opposition parties would take their demand for Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's resignation and no-confidence motion against the government to each and every village. Public meetings and demonstrations would be staged everywhere. SP Legislature Party leader Sunilam said his party would take part in the 'chakka jam'. However, the party would decide at organisational level regarding carrying out agitation in every village. Describing the decision to adjourn the Vidhan Sabha sine die as illegal and unconstitutional, Ms Devi said the entire opposition has come together over a corruption-related issue.
''This is possibly for the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh that the entire opposition has urged the Governor to intervene against the government's decision to adjourn the Vidhan Sabha sine die. This is also the first chance when supplementary budget and bills had been passed in the Question Hour without discussion,” she said. She said the opposition had planned to table a no-confidence motion and alleged that the regime's apprehension led to the adjournment.
The Congress leader said the Opposition could have agreed for discussion had Speaker Ishwardas Rohani informed about the decision to adjourn the Vidhan Sabha. On Rohani calling opposition members in his room to discuss adjournment motions and end the stalemate, Devi said the Speaker should have created such an atmosphere in the House. Ms Devi said it was their (opposition members’) legal right to demand the CM's resignation. She made public 110 points of the no-confidence motion including- the government's falling back on promise and insulting public mandate- to be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha.
