Pachauri's ‘multi-pronged tactics’ soon

Bhopal, Feb 21: Newly appointed Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Suresh Pachauri is giving shape to his political strategy after having assumed office. Pachauri's ‘multi-pronged tactics’ include identification of ‘weak assembly segments’ on which the ruling BJP won in 2003.

The premise is that in many constituencies resentment against the sitting BJP MLA is on the rise. In the recently held by-elections, most of the BJP legislators faced resentment from people in Gwalior and Khargone regions. In some of the constituencies, even the state cabinet ministers faced wrath of people and they were not allowed to canvass. In past one week, Pachauri met almost all the party leaders and district level leaders and received feedback. Now, party sources said that a special strategy is being formulated to target constituencies, particularly in those places BJP MLAs have lost their credibility.

Secondly, Pachauri wants more and more of his Union cabinet colleagues to visit Madhya Pradesh and take on BJP regime. In the past many Central ministers who have toured the state have gone on record praising Shivraj Singh Chouhan government's achievements. However, this time, sources claimed that PCC would coordinate the tours of the cabinet ministers in Madhya Pradesh and befitting reply to the allegations of State Government that step-motherly treatment is being meted out, would be given. Formation of State Congress committee by the end of March, scrutiny of state government’s actions and loud protest on different issues during budget session of assembly is on the cards. In past one week, Pachauri met almost all the party workers and leader and decided the strategy. Since Betul Lok Sabha by-election is scheduled, PCC Chief is in Betul on Thursday meeting party workers at block-level. He would remain in the constituency on Friday also and leave for Bhopal in the evening.
