Respite to citizens with showers

Bhopal, Mar 23: With the sudden change in climatic condition residents of the state got respite from the soaring heat. Though the maximum temperature in Bhopal was recorded 34 degree Celsius (one degree below normal), while the minimum temperature rose to 24.6 degree Celsius, which was 4 degree Celsius more than normal, due to sudden eruption of western disturbances developing a low pressure area, thunderstorms and mild rainfall was received here on Sunday.

Ujjain continued to witness the maximum temperature variation with 17 degree Celsius minimum and 39 degree Celsius maximum. Rainfall was also recorded in several places in Madhya Pradesh even as two people were killed yesterday when they were struck by lightning in Jabalpur division. According to the Regional Meteorological Department, isolated places in Rewa, Jabalpur, Sagar and Bhopal divisions received rainfall accompanied by strong winds. Malajkhand and Narsinghpur received heavy rainfall.

Rainfall accompanied by lightning was predicted at isolated places in these divisions in the next 24 hours. Jabalpur received heavy rainfall overnight bringing down day temperature to 26.9 degree Celsius. A low of 20 C was recorded. The metrological department has forecasted that with the developing of a low pressure area in the eastern parts of the state a similar trend would continue to prevail for the next two three days. Particularly Bhopal and adjoining areas would witness thunderstorms and rainfall in the next 48 hours.
