Dairy societies in profit for two years
Bhopal, Jan 25: During the last two years dairy societies in Madhya Pradesh have attained the condition of profit. The recurring profit of dairy federations has increased by 464 percent. The recurring profit of dairy societies was 134.10 lakh in the year 2004-05 which has now risen to 756.52 lakh. Thus, for the first time, dairy federations have attained the condition of profit.
Similarly, dairy societies have been the facility of 10 days advance payment. At the same time, the milk producing farmers have been given the option of daily payment. During the last two years ISO certificates have been received by dairy plants of dairy societies of Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur and Ujjain. With the view to bringing about transparency in milk collection, electronic fat test facility has been provided in almost all the 1637 milk collecting societies.
For the first time Sickness Assistance Scheme (Sanchi Arogya), Monthly Prize Scheme (Sanchi Upahar) and Janshri Insurance Scheme have been implemented for the state's milk supplying members. At the same time, Rs 29 crore new schemes have been got sanctioned from the Union government. Besides, sanction for Integrated Tribal Dairy Development Scheme costing Rs 75 crore has also been received. This scheme would be implemented in 11 tribal-dominant districts of Madhya Pradesh. Indore Dairy Federation's Rs 15 crore rehabilitation schemes has also been approved under which the National Dairy Development Board waived Rs 30 crore additional general loan for the first time. Under the extension plan of milk chilling systems during the last two years 94 bulk milk cooling units were sanctioned. Yearly premium to the tune of Rs 50 lakh was received from Sanchi Milk Parlours at the railway stations. During the summer, milk production in the state was so much that the need to import milk from other states did not arise whereas before 2006-07 milk had to be imported for 7 consecutive years.
In Madhya Pradesh 614 new villages were connected with milk collection activity and door-to-door supply scheme of Sanchi milk was started. New products including ice-cream, cold coffee, diamond milk, Zeer Mathha and Adrak Mathha were introduced. Dairy Federation has chalked out an ambitious strategy for the next one year under which a target has been fixed to raise milk societies' profit to Rs 10 crore. The target has also been fixed to establish electronic fat testing appliances in all the societies which collect 100 litre milk daily. There is a plant to set up milk coolers at the Tehsil-level on a large scale.
