Arif Aqeel lashes out at Gufran-e-Azam

Bhopal, Mar 25: Madhya Pradesh Congress legislator and Vice president of State Congress Committee Arif Aqeel on Tuesday lashed out heavily on Gufran-e-Azam, who resigned from PCC state executive as a member on Monday. Aqeel while talking to media persons alleged that Gufran’s resignation has clearly showed his mentality.

“He had been doing politics from being in AC rooms. Instead of connected to ground realities, he is always known for speaking against party leaders. In past 20 years, he had been office bearer of the party, but never reached State Congress office,” he added. He stated that Gufran never contributed anything to the party for making it accelerated. He claimed that Gufran is baseless leader and he could not provide Congress votes in Nishat Colony (where he resides) and in Jhalapipali village (where his farmhouse is situated) in recently held elections.

Aqeel further said that Gufran talked of minorities time and again, but he never did any welfare works for the community. “His life starts with liquor and ends with liquor. If he had to resign, he would have taken up the matter at party forum and then he would have resigned. Taking up the matter directly before media showed his intentions,” he added. Aqeel asked several questions to Gufran- as what works he has done to the development of Bhopal, Whether he raised the issue of gas victims in Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha, What works he did for upliftment of minorities, why he did not return the illegally encroached land of tribals in Jhalpipali and Birpur. He alleged that Gufran played important role in ruining hockey of Bhopal and he also sold out lands of Bhopal nawabs with forged documents.

Talking about his seniority, Aqeel stated that Gufran worked under former PCC president Subhash Yadav for four years and soon after his removal, he termed Yadav as deaf and dumb. Gufran also criticized Motilal Vora earlier. When he was given ticket from Btul, claims of senior leaders like Radhakrishna Garg were overlooked. Besides, he was given ticket from Vidsha despite being junior from local leaders, he added. Aqeel asked Gufran to do politics on ground realities instead of doing conspiracy from closed rooms.
