Mulayam party president for three years

Jabalpur, Mar 26: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was unanimously chosen the Samajwadi Party President for three years during the party's three-day national convention that underway. Yadav's name was proposed by SP Parliamentary Party leader Ramgopal Yadav and supported by all members of the National Executive. SP Vice-President Janeshwar Mishra, General Secretary Amar Singh, MPs Jaya Bachchan, Jayaprada and other leaders congratulated Yadav while workers raised slogans. Yadav was also presented a gold crown.

Earlier, Sanajwadi Party National President Mulayam Singh Yadav said that in the Lok Sabha elections of 2004, his party gave support to UPA government, to protect nation from communal forces, but Congress targeted SP. Yadav was addressing seventh National Convention of Samajwadi Party here on Wednesday. On this occasion, Yadav was accompanied with Amar Singh, National General Secretary, Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan, Rajya Sabha members. He further said that in the UPA Congress Party was the biggest party. After coming to power Congress targeted SP. It imposed allegations and insulted SP leaders several times. At that time Samajwadi faced a tough time. It was Samajwadi Party which controlled anti-social and communal rites in Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav said that this National Convention of party is being organising at such a time when only six month left for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. He said that due to support of strong anti-social elements and UPA and NDA government protection, they could not stop them. He said that SP always followed politics of principles and policies. “We have stopped BJP in Uttar Pradesh, now the biggest challenge is in Madhya Pradesh. SP has gain strengthened in many areas. The biggest success gained by SP has created an example in whole Nation,” he added. He extended gratitude to Samajwadi Party of Madhya Pradesh.

Yadav alleged that even after loan wavier to farmers, 55 farmers committed suicide. It is incomplete relief to farmers. Only providing them the actual rates of their produce could solve Farmer's problem. He said that Swaminathan Commission has recommended specifying the purchase rate of wheat as Rs. 1425 and paddy Rs 1500 per quintal. After VAT has been imposed, both traders and consumer are facing problems. Inflation has risen to 100 per cent in past one year. This caused lots o difficulty for common man for survival. Electricity production is decreasing day-by-day. Along with this there is tremendous increase in unemployment and corruption. Yadav said that a problem in country arise when there is no mutual interaction of public with government. He stressed that their aim is not to have politics but to have welfare of society and Nation. He appeals the youths and students to understand their rights and utilise their power for welfare and progress of Nation.
