BHEL felicitates patents and copyrights

Bhopal, Mar 30: RK Singh, Executive Director, BHEL, Bhopal felicitated the Inventors of Patents and authors of copyrights by presenting them a token Incentive in a simple programme held the other day. While addressing the audience during the felicitation ceremony of 18 inventors and authors, he highlighted the importance of intellectual property and urged upon the executives to come forward and register the novel work as patent or copyright.

He congratulated all the groups for submitting applications for 27 patents and copyrights against a target of 15 for the year 2007-08 and actual of 8 in the year 2006-07. In a letter, CP Singh, Director (E and RD) has also congratulated the engineers of Bhopal Unit for filing patents or copyright. SK Lomash, GM (TPTN & GET) & Chairman - Plant Intellectual Property Evaluation Committee (PIPEC) on the occasion said that BHEL Bhopal has exceeded the target and filed all time high patents this year. He asked Heads of all Engineering departments & executives to systematically plan for filing of patents so that BHEL Bhopal can achieve a target of at least 100 patents in the year 2008-09.

Kishore Purswani, AGM (BEX & EME) and convener PIPEC informed that a revised incentive scheme for grant of incentives at various levels of patent applications has been made effective from 1st March 2008. Under this scheme the applicant team can get awards up to Rs 5000 on submission of patent application, up to Rs. 15,000/- on filing of patent and up to Rs 40,000 on grant of patent. He also informed that 23 patents and 4 copyrights have been submitted in the current year, out of which, 15 applications have already been filed with patent office. Eighteen executives who were felicitated were given the token award for filing application.
