White paper on spiraling prices demanded

Bhopal, Mar 31: National BJP president Rajnath Singh accusing the UPA government at the Centre of failing to check spiralling prices of essential commodities demanded a White Paper on the issue. He alleged that corruption and economic policies of the government were responsible for rising inflation.

Singh was addressing a ‘Jan Ashirvad’ rally at Satna on Monday. He also alleged that the government announced a total waiver of agricultural loans to the farmers without any catagorisation. He said “If NDA comes to power, it will lower the interest rate to 4 per cent and there will be no interest on any agricultural loan for the first year". Charging the Centre with inability to contain inflation which has breached the 6 per cent mark, he said corruption and wrong economic policies of the government were responsible for unabated price rise.

“Surprisingly, whenever Congress comes to power, the prices of essential commodities go up and the poor people suffer,” he alleged. Claiming that the prices had risen more after budget, the BJP president said his party would mobilize public opinion to ‘expose wrong policies’ of the Centre. “The government must come out with a White Paper on soaring prices of essential commodities. The people of the country have the right to know the reasons behind the price rise,” he said. Attacking on communal policies of UPA government, Singh stated that Congress is dividing the country and society in the name of religion. Formation of Sachar Committee and implementation on its recommendations are evident that Congress is making efforts to divide the society.
