Cop deployed at GAD office after theft
Bhopal: A policeman has been asked to sleep at the office of the GAD wing in the Mantralaya after fourteen cash books were reported missing from room number 424 on the fourth floor of the Mantralaya. The keys to the room have also been kept in custody of the policeman. GAD Secretary DS Rai ordered that a policeman be present at the office even at night after a FIR was filed by Assistant State Protocol Officer Rajesh Gupta alleging that fourteen cash books were missing from the cupboard where they were kept.
Man-eater tigress tranquilized
Bhopal: A tigress that had killed two persons and injured as many in the Panpatha Sanctuary near Umaria on Wednesday morning, was successfully tranquilized by forest department staff, hours before the department was all set to issue orders to shoot the big cat. In Burhanpur in July last year, a female man eater panther walked into a trap set up by the forest department hours after orders to eliminate it were issued by the forest headquarters in Bhopal. The forest department staff is now looking for two cubs that were said to be with the tigress.
New twist to Bhumi murder case
Bhopal: The sensational Bhumi murder case of Indore took a new turn on Wednesday when a man attacked the murder accused in court premises on Wednesday. Husband of the victim, later alleged that his wife Bhumi had an illicit affair with a youth of Udaipur. The newly wedded 19-year-old Bhumi was brutally murdered and cut into two pieces. The in-laws of the victim were arrested on the charge of murder.
Communal clash in Chhindwara
Bhopal: Indefinite curfew was promulgated in Chhindwara town in Madhya Pradesh early this morning as tension arose after attempt to disrupt communal harmony by desecrating places of worship and attacking a religious procession last night. Police claimed the situation is under control. Heavy police force has been deployed in the town to ward off further trouble, official sources said. Tension arose after an objectionable object was thrown at a Durga procession at Diwanjipura and the faithful halted the procession and sought action against the guilty.
BSNL broadband customers feel duped
Bhopal: Those who bought BSNL’s broadband connection, for Rs 250 per month are now realising that they have been enticed. A large number of people especially from BHEL Township have been complaining that their broadband connection is miserable. For the last several weeks, the functionality of the connection is so worse that those who want to attach files with the e-mail never get it done. "I informed BSNL officials of this problem for which they suggested to format my computer hard disk and re-install softwares all through again," Suresh Kumar, a resident of Ratnagiri, aggrieved.
LPG cylinder shortage in Bhopal
Bhopal: Acute shortage of domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders has increased the concern of city dwellers during the festive season. Housewives in the city are increasingly worried over the acute shortage of domestic LPG cylinders. Some even fear that they would not be able to serve their dear ones with delicacies this festive season, if the situation is not contained at the earliest. One aspect stands common at all the LPG distribution outlets -- the long line of customers.
AWS introduced at Bhopal
Bhopal: State residents can now expect most precise weather information and forecast for now as the meteorological office at Bhopal has installed Automatic Weather System (AWS) at its Bhopal office. The director of the department at Bhopal DP Dube told that the system is completely computerised; collects assimilates and filter the weather information from INSAT 1A ‘Kalpana’ without much of human intervention. Until now the department was dependent on manual system.
Grape wine soon in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: If everything goes well, Madhya Pradesh will be a pioneer state in producing the much sought-after grape wine. With a view to optimally utilise state’s potential in grape cultivation, the Madhya Pradesh government is mulling over to draft a comprehensive ‘Grape Processing Industry Policy 2006.’ Not only this, the government is also thinking over a proposal to provide wine the status of ‘General Processed Horticulture Product’.
Here Ravana is worshipped
Bhopal: It is not only Ravana village of Vidisha district where 10-headed demon Ravana is worshiped. This demon considered as synonym of evil is also worshiped in Ravana Rundi village of Mandsaur district and Bhadkhedi village of Shajapur district. The demon king regarded as a learned person and an ascetic is worshipped widely in the villages of western Madhya Pradesh. Indore-based Rajesh Batham, who has been worshipping the ten-headed demon since ancestors, believes that burning King Ravana who knower of all Vedas and a devotee of Lord Shiva is not justified.
BRA and IAF exercise from Oct 13
Bhopal: The skies above Gwalior City will reverberate with the sounds of fighter jets, including Tornados and Jaguars, as India and Britain hold joint air exercises from Oct 13. The Royal Air Force (RAF) will send 100 officers for the joint exercise, codenamed Indradhanush, and 100 Indian Air Force (IAF) officers will join them at Agra. Working together under a common command will benefit the two sides. Special arrangements have been made for the security of the RAF personnel.
