Central team would study drought-hit areas
Bhopal: A central team will tour Madhya Pradesh to study the drought situation caused by scarce rains in Bundelkhand region of the state, official sources said. The Agriculture Ministry had already formed a team headed by National Water-fed Area Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr JS Sharma to study the drought situation in Sagar, Gwalior and Rewa divisions.
Mass Surya Namaskar on January 12
Bhopal: On January 12, 2008, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, a mass Surya Namaskar programme would be organised throughout the state at 9 am on the same signal. Instructions would be broadcast on all the primary channels of All India Radio so that people in the entire state can perform Surya Namaskar simultaneously following the signal.
All eyes on CM for appointment of new AG
Jabalpur: All eyes are set on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on when he would make recommendation for the appointment of a new Advocate General, to Governor Balram Jakhar in the wake of unexpected resignation by Advocate General and senior BJP leader Ravinandan Singh. Legal experts opine that the Chief Minister had the right for appointing a new Advocate General under section 165 of the Constitution.
Extreme cold wave conditions in MP
Bhopal: Extreme cold wave conditions continue in northern Madhya Pradesh while other parts experienced some respite due to a rise in night temperature. Morena's Agricultural Science Research Centre Regional Director Yogendra Mohan Kool claimed that temperature dropped to freezing point there last night and it had plummetted to -1.5 C in 2003. Naugaon and Rewa recorded night temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius and 6.2 C, which were mercifully higher than earlier.
RRD constructing houses for homeless
Bhopal: Rural Development Department is constructing houses for the homeless people living below the poverty line in the rural areas. Under Indira Awas Yojana this year construction of 31 thousand 688 houses has been completed while 19,495 houses are nearing completion. Similarly, construction of one thousand houses under Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana, started from this year, has also been completed. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh has said that during the current financial year 53,188 new houses are being constructed while 14,773 houses are being improved.
