Tourists visit MP despite swine flu scare

Bhopal: The swine flu and its scare, which spread across states in India, has failed to cast shadow on tourism in Madhya Pradesh, 'the heart of India'. Despite it to being a tourist season, the number of visitors has increased comparatively to several historical destinations such as Khajuraho, Orchcha and Sanchi, sources in the tourism department said. “Tourism is continuing in this India's heartland state's internationally-famed tourist spots as usual,'' Chief General Manager, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, Balmukund Namdev told.

Very few know about life: Agrawal

Bhopal: Vijay Agrawal, who has penned many popular books on life management, believes that human beings are accustomed to viewing life through the restrictive lenses of either success or failure while very few are alert and aware about an understanding towards what is called life. “In life, only those who comprehend it taste success in the true sense of the term,” Agrawal who voluntarily retired today as the Press Information Bureau's Additional Director-General (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan) told.

Congress demo against minister

Panna: The case of extortion allegedly by the relatives of Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Tribal Welfare and in-charge of Panna district Hari Shankar Khatik was gaining momentum. The members of the Congress and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) today staged a demonstration here and burnt the minister in effigy. The activists also submitted a memorandum to the Governor through senior officials.

New Drug Policy-2009 approved

Bhopal: The State Cabinet which met here today under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan accorded its approval to the New Drug Policy – 2009. The New Drug Policy incorporates the detailed procedure for purchase of medicines, its storage, quality control, tender and payment mode. Till the new policy comes into force, competent officers have been authorized to make the purchase under the existing norms.

People with weak limbs slipped

Bhopal: Referring to the current infighting at the highest order in the BJP senior party leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Sunderlal Patwa today said people with weak limbs slipped on its slippery floor. “According to me everything is in order in the party but some people's statements produced mist which is not correct,” Patwa said to reporters here.

Several important decisions in cabinet

Bhopal: The cabinet at its meeting chaired by the Chief Minster Shivraj Singh here today took several important decisions including setting up of a 1000-bed hospital at Gwalior, upgrading of the cardiac science centre at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal and establishment of a gastroentology department there. The cabinet accorded sanction for construction of a 1000-bed hospital at Gwalior. The work would be completed in for phases. The A block would be taken up in the first phase and the B block in the second phase on which an expenditure of RS. 15.64 is estimated.

Bhopal: In fulfillment of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s announcement at the Khel Panchayat at his residence in year 2007, copies of the orders issued to the different departments sent to the different government departments were given to the Vikram Awardees at the state level sports award presentation ceremony here on Saturday. The Governor Rameshwar Thakur was chief guest and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over the function. On this announcement the Ravindra Bhawan hall resounded with applauds of the audience as well as the players.

Bhopal Development Plan-2021 finalized

Bhopal: The Directorate of Town and Country Planning has prepared the draft of Bhopal Development Plan-2021. It will be published on August 29 under the provisions of Madhya Pradesh Town and Country Planning Act, 1973. Copies of the plan will be available in the offices of the district collector, chief executive officer of Bhopal Development Authority, commissioner, Municipal Corporation, chief municipal officer of Kolar municipality and director, Town and Country Planning. The draft plan may be inspected from August 20 on working days during office hours.
