Jaya alleges Maya using Amitabh’s name
Bhopal, Apr 01: In a stinging attack on Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Mayawati, Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Jaya
Bachchan on Tuesday accused her of pursuing action against her
husband Amitabh Bachchan only for ‘cheap publicity’. Ms Bachchan,
who arrived to campaign for her party for the Lok Sabha
by-election from Betul constituency, told reporters here that
her husband was being dragged into the Barabanki land allotment
controversy due to this intention.
MPERC announces retail supply tariff
Bhopal, Apr 01: The MP Electricity Regulation Commission (MPERC)
has announced the revised retail supply tariffs with an overall
increase of 2.76 percent for the year 2008-09. The domestic
consumers have been spared with any kind of hike in tariffs,
while the rebate for agricultural consumers has been hiked to
1.5 times. Special incentive of 5 percent on energy charges has
been offered to various sections of consumers for encouraging
energy efficiency.
SP legislator suspended for indiscipline
Bhopal, Apr 01: Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday suspended it
legislator Vijay Bahadur Singh Bundela who had voted against
party whip to ruling Bharatiya Janata Party candidates in the
recently held Rajya Sabha elections. The party leader of
legislators in Madhya Pradesh assembly Sunilam had recently
written to high command for strict action against Bundela and he
also wrote to Vidhan Saha Speaker Ishwardas Rohani terminating
Bundela’s membership from the assembly as he overlooked party
whip.
CAG pulls Power Distribution Company
Bhopal, Apr 01: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of
India has pulled up the Madhya Pradesh Central Region Power
Distribution Company for its 'injudicious decision' to keep in
abeyance line work to solve voltage problem in interior areas.
“The injudicious decision to keep the work in abeyance after
incurring huge sum resulted in blocking of Rs 76.85 lakh with
consequential loss of interest of Rs 25.83 lakh till September
last year,” said the CAG's report for 2006-07 presented in the
Assembly recently.
NCA cheating 10,000 families
Bhopal, Apr 01: Narmada Bacaho Andolan leader Medha Patkar has
lashed out at the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) for deceiving
the 10,000 families of the state by not conveying them that they
are going to be submerged with the completion of installation of
gates of Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP). She charged that big dams
constructed on Narmada Valley are all set to devastate the 2.5
lakhs people residing in near by areas and demanded a review
regarding the burgeoning cost of the SSP by planning commission.
