Bhopal, May 02: The Income Tax department is conducting a survey and search in 22 premises of National Board of Trade (NBOT), the country's third-biggest commodity exchange, and its brokers here on Friday. AK Singh, Director of Investigations, Income Tax department told, “The survey is on at NBOT and search at premises of its brokers and distributors.”

 

BJP band call evokes partial response

Bhopal, May 02: The nationwide strike called by the BJP in protest against price rise had a partial effect on normal life in Madhya Pradesh on Friday with private transport and taxi services plying as usual. However, the state capital was total bandh and majority of the markets remained closed in urban cities including Gwalior, Indore and Jabalpur following the bandh call.

 

Tax exemption to scholarships of medicos

Bhopal, May 02: The Indore High Court in an important verdict has exempted the scholarship given to the Post Graduate Diploma and Degree course students in the state medical colleges. The Junior Doctors Association (JUDA), Indore had filed the writ petition with the HC in 2007 against the IT department directing medical colleges to charge the income tax from their stipends.

 

Activities for giving fillip to eco tourism

Bhopal, May 02: Principal Secretary Forest, Biodiversity and Biotechnology and chairman of Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Boar, Prashant Mehta chaired the third general meeting of the Board yesterday. The meeting reviewed the decisions taken last year and discussed figures of income and expenditure.

 

Jakhar for better services to poor

Bhopal, May 02: While praising services being rendered by Madhya Pradesh Red Cross Society to poor people, Governor Balram Jakhar called for intensifying these efforts further to provide better services to mankind. He said that Red Cross should be made poor people's support base. The Governor expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of state level managing committee of Madhya Pradesh Red Cross Society here on Friday.
