Congress meeting to chalk out strategy
Bhopal, Mar 03: A high-level meeting of Madhya Pradesh Congress
is scheduled in New Delhi on Tuesday to chalk out a strategy for
upcoming assembly elections. Almost all the senior party leaders
belong to the state are likely to participate in the meeting.
Party sources said that in past four years this is for the first
time when the party charged up with the appointment of new state
president Suresh Pachauri holding such a meeting at AICC office.
UP not releasing water as per terms
Bhopal, Mar 03: Madhya Pradesh Water Resources Minister Anup
Mishra told the State Assembly that the Uttar Pradesh Government
was not releasing water as per terms resulting in inadequate
water supply to Bhind district from 'Bhander canal system'.
Dissatisfied with the reply, Opposition Congress staged a walk
out alleging that the government was not resolving water
problems of farmers. Hamid Qazi of NCP also joined the walkout.
Tourism potential remains unexploited
Bhopal, Mar 03: Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the immense potential of
tourism in Madhya Pradesh still remains largely unexploited due
to long neglect of this sector. Concerted efforts have been made
over last four years for optimum exploitation of these
possibilities by encouraging and promoting tourism industry.
This would reduce the burden on agriculture and employment would
be generated for the youths.
Opp walks out alleging scam in cycles
Bhopal, Mar 03: The entire Opposition led by the Congress on
Monday staged walk out in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly alleging a
scam in the distribution of bicycles to girl students in
government schools. School Education Minister Gaurishankar
Shejwar denied the charges and claimed that payments to
concerned company had been halted in cases where distributed
cycles were found to be of sub-standard quality.
Cong welcomes MISA pensions
Bhopal, Mar 03: Congress member and former Madhya Pradesh
Minister Govind Singh welcomed the 2008-09 state Budget's
provision for pension and medical facilities to MISA
(Maintenance of Internal Security Act) detainees. Initiating the
general debate on the Budget presented in the Assembly on
February 27 Singh said, “The proposal is laudable and should
include those who were students at the time and were behind bars
for limited periods. Those who tendered apologies for release,
ought not to be included.”
