Jabalpur, Mar 04: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has imposed an interim stay on prosecution against farmers in a case regarding irregularities in land allotment to the Sardar Sarovar Project's oustees. While hearing a Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) plea, Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice Prakash Shrivastav yesterday directed issuance of notices to the state government and others.

Bhopal, Mar 04: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) Chairman Anil Ambani said here on Tuesday that the 'gobal recession' was responsible for the decline in share market in most of the countries of the world, including India. While talking to media persons at Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's residence, Ambani said that other counteries of the world were also affected by the plummetting stock market.

 

Opposition walks out over Rewa issue

Bhopal, Mar 04: The opposition staged a walkout today in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly alleging that the government was shielding the prime accused in a case relating to firing in front of Rewa district's JP Cement factory. Raising the matter during question hour, Sajjan Singh Verma of Congress alleged that the accused were not being arrested due to links of the 'head of government' with the unit's owner Sunny Gaud. Police were unable to act impartially owing to pressure, he added.

 

EOW files case against PWD officer

Bhopal, Mar 04: The State Bureau of Investigation for Economic Offenses (SBIEO) on Tuesday registered a complaint against Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Public Works Department (PWD). After registering the complaint, the Bureau would soon launch investigations to gather clues against the official.

 

UNESCO looking for heritage property

Gwalior, Mar 04: French archaeologists along with their Indian counterparts are looking for heritage sites in Madhya Pradesh that could be included in the UNESCO's heritage list. Presently, the team is in Gwalior to identify heritage sites that are nearly 80 years old or more. “Our motto is to identify buildings in cities in which only monuments have been documented. We came here to survey and analyse the heritage buildings which are a part of the selected monuments,” said Professor Surg Sentele, Dean of Architecture, Paris.

 

MISA pension to widows too

Bhopal, Mar 04: Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister Raghavji announced in the Assembly that even MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) detainees' widows would be provided half pension. The state's 2008-09 budget enshrines a provision for pension and medical facilities to MISA detainees.
