The Governor’s remarks came in the wake of US President George Bush’s statement that increasing prosperity in India is pushing demand that is leading to higher food prices across the world.

 

Three including twins drown in Balaghat

Bhopal, May 04: In a heart-rending incident, three youths of a family, including twins and their nephew were drowned in a river at Garra village of Balaghat district on Sunday morning. One of the three youths, who got drowned, was pursuing MBBS from Jabalpur Medical College and got married on May 1.

 

Sports camps have got underway

Bhopal, May 04: District level summer sports camps have got underway in the state capital for imparting coaching to schoolchildren. Sports grounds of different schools have been chosen for various games for these camps, which would continue up to May 15. Students studying from class VIII to XII have registered their presence at these camps. Meanwhile, coordinators, assistant coordinators and coaches have been appointed for smooth conduct of these camps.

 

Tribal students’ scholarship on priority

Bhopal, May 04: From the funds sanctioned for the current year, first of all payments would be made to the students of educational institutions being run by Tribal Welfare Department who were sanctioned scholarships during the year 2007-08. In this connection Commissioner Tribal Welfare Jaideep Govind has issued instruction to Assistant Commissioners Tribal Welfare and District Coordinators.

 

Three-day programme on puppets

Bhopal, May 04: A novel three-day programme based on puppets is being organised at Ravindra Bhawan here from May 6. Culture, Public Relations and Mineral Resources Minister Laxmikant Sharma would inaugurate the three-day 'Putul Samaroh' on May 6 at 7 pm. The programme is being organised by Directorate of Culture.
