Technical committee

Bhopal, Jan 05: The state government has constituted a technical committee for computerisation in Madhya Pradesh Mantralaya. The committee would be headed by Finance Department Secretary Ashok Varnwal while secretary of General Administration Department would be its member secretary.

 

Sports contest

Bhopal, Jan 05: 'Sports and Cultural/IQ Contests' has been introduced by Madhya Pradesh in the year 2007-08 with a view to encouraging talented players and sports persons belonging to scheduled castes. Under this scheme, applications have been invited from those scheduled caste players.

 

HS School buildings

Bhopal, Jan 05: The state government has approved 20 places to build higher secondary school buildings there. These schools situated in 12 districts and run by Tribal Welfare Department, do not have their own buildings.


 

Chouhan to lead assembly elections in MP

Gwalior, Jan 05: Lauding the functioning of the Madhya Pradesh government, BJP President Rajnath Singh said the BJP will fight next year's Assembly elections in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Singh told reporters here that the government was doing commendable work especially in road and power sectors. He claimed that Madhya Pradesh would soon join the league of developed states.

 

Cultural programmes decentralised

Bhopal, Jan 05: Cultural programmes in Madhya Pradesh have been decentralised with a view that such programmes can also be held at small towns along with big cities. Culture Department is providing utmost opportunities to folk artists of Bundelkhand, Malwa and Mahakaushal in accordance with the culture of these areas. This information was given by Culture, Public Relations and Mineral Resources Minister Laxmikant Sharma at live phone-in programme 'Hello Akashwani' which was broadcast live from Akashwani Kendra Bhopal on Friday.

 

Statewide pulse polio drive on Sunday

Bhopal, Jan 05: Lakhs of children up to five years of age will be administered Pulse Polio drops in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, January 6, 2008. A target of administering polio drops to 97 lakh children has been set for the Pulse Polio campaign to he held on Sunday. For this one crore 42 vaccine dozes have been sent to districts. Adequate arrangements of cold chain have also been made to with a view to keeping the polio dozes intact. After administering polio doze at polio booths on Sunday, remaining children would be given the dozes at their houses on Monday and Tuesday, January 7 and 8, 2008. During the last one year no new polio case has been found in Madhya Pradesh.

 

Successful G2G initiative by Higher Education

Bhopal, Jan 05: In government files are very important things. For all sincere and well meaning efforts the number of files, somehow, keeps increasing due, inter alia, to their processing at four-five levels in offices. With a view to quickening the disposal of long pending files, the Principal Secretary, Higher Education and Technical Education, Snehlata Shrivastava, hit upon an idea to take a novel G2G initiative.

 

Women empowerment in the state

Bhopal, Jan 05: With a view to increasing access of meritorious girls of families subsisting below the poverty line in urban areas to higher education, the State Government has introduced an innovative scheme 'Pratibha Kiran Yojana' which could be described as another step forward towards women empowerment in the state. Applications have been invited upto January 31, 2008 from the girls desirous of seeking benefits of the newly introduced scheme during the current academic session.
