Congressmen concerned over lack of unity
Bhopal, Mar 07: In an election year in Madhya Pradesh,
Congressmen are concerned over lack of unity and purpose among
its ranks. The initial euphoria of appointment of Suresh
Pachauri is subsiding and now Congressmen are dismayed to note
endemic factionalism and individual show of strength.
DFID officials call on
Chief Minister
Bhopal, Mar 07: Department for international Development (DFID's)
Director for Southeast Asia region Jim Drummond paid a courtesy
visit to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today. The
Department for International Development (DFID) is providing
financial assistance to achieve the Millennium Development
Targets set by the United Nations.
Remission to women prisoners
Bhopal, Mar 07: On the occasion of International Women's Day on
March 8, 2008, the state government has decided to give special
remission in sentence to women prisoners. The decision would
benefit women prisoners convicted by courts in Madhya Pradesh
and severing sentences in the jails of Madhya Pradesh or other
states. Orders to this effect have been issued.
Cong demands arrest of minister’s son
Bhopal, Mar 07: The main opposition in state assembly Congress
has demanded arrest of a minister’s son who had fired at a
Congress leader in Harda district on Thursday. Congress leaders
have threatened to stage a bandh in the district on Saturday if
a case of attempt to murder against Sandeep Patel, son of
Revenue Minister Kamal Patel.
P Nag gets Bhugol Bhusan award
Bhopal, Mar 07: Director National Atlus and Thematic Mapping
Organisation and noted geographer P Nag was felicitated with
Bhugol Bhusan award in the inaugural session of the IInd
International Conference of the Deccan Geographical Society on
Friday at the Barkatullah University. As many as 250 delegates
including 8 research scholars from abroad would present their
research papers on geography-Economy and Geography-Environment.
