Married couple killed

Dhar, Apr 07: A married couple was killed and their relative seriously injured when their two motorcycles were knocked down by a tanker last night in Peetampur town on the Mhow-Neemuch road in this district. Police said Suman Bai (25) was killed on the spot while her husband Hiralal (28) succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital.

 

'ashtadhatu' idols stolen

Satna, Apr 07: Three 'ashtadhatu' idols, dating back to the 18th century, were stolen from an ancient temple at Sohawal town in this district, police said today. Idols of deities Ram, Lakshman and Sita were stolen last night from the Sankatmochan temple located on Satna-Panna road.

 

Privatizing airstrips

Bhopal, Apr 07: The state government has earned Rs 54.50 lakh by leasing out eight airstrips in the state for aviation activities. Similarly, proposals have been invited from private agencies for some airstrips for pilot training. At present, 25 out of 48 districts of the state have airports and airstrips.

Bhopal, Apr 07: Madhya Pradesh Congress would have new in-charge General Secretary and Secretary soon. Indications are that in keeping with ‘one man one post’ norm, the Congress high command will send new set of AICC functionaries for the state.

 

SIMI leaders sent for narco test

Bhopal, Apr 07: The Madhya Pradesh police along with three hardcore activists of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) on Monday reached Bangalore for their Narco test there. Meanwhile, police have arrested eight more SIMI activists from different parts of the state.

 

Admission on merit basis in SoE

Bhopal, Apr 07:  The written test for admission in Excellence Schools for the year 2008-09 would be held on May 18. These schools are being run at the district headquarters by School Education Department and Tribal Welfare Department. Like previous years, this year also written test for admission would be conducted by Professional Examination Board and students would be selected on the basis of merit. The last date for submitting applications is May 1, 2008.

 

MP ready for rehabilitation: Govt

New Delhi, Apr 07: The Madhya Pradesh Government on Monday told the Supreme Court that it had 5000 acres of land for rehabilitating the oustees of Sardar Sarovar Dam project and was prepared to hand it over to any agency appointed by the court for distribution.

 

Govt to ensure food availability: CM

Betul, Apr 07: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today assured that the BJP Government would ensure food availability for the public despite cutting in foodgrain supply by the Centre under the Public Distribution System.
