Inquiry ordered into self-immolation attempt
Bhopal, Jan 10: The Madhya Pradesh government has ordered a
high-level inquiry into self-immolation attempt by
Parent-Teacher Association President Shiv Prasad Ahirwar at the
'Janata Durbar' of BJP MP Virendra Kumar at Sagar on Monday.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed Sagar Commissioner
LS Baghel to submit the inquiry report immediately, official
sources said.
Sops for govt employees in election year
Bhopal, Jan 10: The state government announced sops for the
government employees in view of the assembly elections that are
scheduled in November this year. The long pending demand of the
employees to provide dearness allowances (DA) at par with the
Central Government employees has been accepted. Finance Minister
Raghavji while talking to media persons said that the difference
of nine percent DA between state government and Union Government
would be abridged by July and the increased salary would be
payable in August.
Training for forest land rights
Bhopal, Jan 10: The state
government has chalked out a programme of training related to
Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers
(Recognition to Forest Rights) Act so that its provisions can be
implemented swiftly. Under the programme, training to master
trainers and nodal officers would be imparted regarding the
provisions of Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest
Dwellers (Recognition to Forest Rights) Act.
First meeting of newly formed women panel
Bhopal, Jan 10: Madhya Pradesh State Women's Commission would
get informative posters pasted at all the 70,000 anganwadis in
the state for the help of women subjected to physical and mental
torture. The posters would carry the information that an
affected woman can directly approach State Women's Corporation
if her complaint is not heard by police or other competent
authorities. For further help to the affected women, the posters
would also carry the names, addresses and phone and fax numbers
of the office of the State Women's Commission, its chairman and
members.
DBA on war path against judge remark
Jabalpur, Jan 10: Taking a serious note of remarks passed by an
Additional District Judge against the advocates and police
action against them, District Bar Association (DBA) on Wednesday
decided to abstain from the court work on Thursday at all lower
courts in protest and to protect the integrity of the legal
profession. According to RK Singh Saini, President of DBA, the
executive body decided to abstain from the court work today in
protest of misbehaviour and absurd remarks passed by some of
presiding officers of District Court and to boycott the court of
the concerned ADJ indefinitely.
