Satna, May 10: A local court has awarded seven years of rigorous imprisonment to six people, including two women, for holding a woman in captivity and forcing her to indulge in flesh trade. The victim lodged a complaint in Kotwali police station on October 1, 2005 alleging that Rewa district residents kept her in captivity.

 

Bus falls in river, 2 killed

Seoni, May 10: Two people were killed spot and 32 injured three of them seriously, when a private bus broke the railings of a bridge and fell 20 feet deep into the Alon River in Seoni district. The accident took place 65 km from here on Dhanora- Lakhnadon-Seoni road. The deceased were identified as Sadaram (34) and Munnabhai (24).

Chhatarpur, May 10: Ruling BJP legislator Kapoorchand Ghuwara on Saturday staged a one-and-half-hour-long sit-in in front of the Collectorate office demanding relief for farmers in drought-hit areas here. Bhopal, May 10: The 18-year old Van Vihar white tigress ‘Rini’ has been successfully operated for removing the mole just below its right eye on Saturday. The veterinary experts from US during their visit also suggested the surgical operation as the only option. According to Van Vihar authorities, the condition of the tigress is stable after the operation.

 

Judges to get printers with laptops

Bhopal, May 10: A year after distributing laptops under e-court project, the judges in the state are being provided printers for successful implementation of IT initiatives in the judiciary. The nationwide programme under e-court project had been launched at the order of the Supreme Court to enhance courts’ working capacity.

 

Children be aware of freedom struggle

Bhopal, May 10: Governor Balram Jakhar has said that younger generation should be made aware of realities of India's freedom struggle minutely so that they can imbibe spirit of nationalism and ethos of fraternity and amity. The Governor was addressing freedom fighters at a function held at Ravindra Bhawan here on Saturday to remember martyrs and on the occasion of 150th anniversary of India's first war of independence fought in 1857.

 

Thermal plants facing shortage of coal

Bhopal, May 10: At least three thermal stations in Madhya Pradesh are facing severe shortage of coal despite lifting of full stock supplied, the government said on Saturday. The state government is in regular contact with coal companies, railway and the central government to ensure required quantity of coal for the thermal stations at Sarni, Birsinghpur and Amarkantak.
