Bhopal, Mar 11: Madhya Pradesh's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and main opposition Congress owe more than Rs 50 lakh as property tax to the Bhopal Municipal Corporation for the parties' main office buildings here, the Assembly was informed today.

Bhopal, Mar 11: Dissatisfied with the reply of the Madhya Pradesh Government over corruption-related issues, the main opposition Congress staged walk out twice in the state Assembly on Tuesday. Raising the matter about alleged corruption related to a lease of Indore-based Regal Talkies during the Question Hour, Premchand Guddu of Congress alleged that the government was attempting to shield corrupt officials in connection with encroachment on land worth about Rs 100 crore.

 

Dharna in well over jailing farmers

Bhopal, Mar 11: Congress-led opposition members staged a dharna in the well of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly and later staged a walkout over putting several thousand farmers in jail on a charge of power theft and not providing regular electricity supply for students preparing for examination.

Bhopal, Mar 11: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly echoed with the issue of beating up a senior journalist by a team of police and administrative officials after he published news related to Sehore Collector. Raising the matter after the Question Hour, Sajjan Singh Verma of Congress said Sehore UNI stringer Ramnarayan Tamrakar had published news regarding an argument between Sehore Collector and the driver of an MP.
