Relief in drought-hit

Bhopal, May 11: All out efforts are being undertaken by the state government to provide employment and drinking water under relief works in drought-affected Sagar division. All the 34 tehsils of Sagar division have been declared drought-affected. The government sanctioned 960 relief works to the tune of Rs 23.75 crore to overcome drought conditions in the division.

 

Tendu leaves plucking

Bhopal, May 11: Plucking of tendu leaves has begun in western parts of the state while in some regions plucking work is likely to begin in the third week of the current month. According to information received from Laghu Vanopaj Sangh headquarters, so far 42,000 standard bags of tendu leaves have been collected.

 

BJP MLA’s sit-in

Chhatarpur, May 11: Ruling BJP legislator Kapoorchand Ghuwara on Saturday staged a one-and-half-hour-long sit-in in front of the Collectorate office demanding relief for farmers in drought-hit areas here. Ghuwara, represents Malehra assembly segment and is Chairman of the Handicraft Development Corporation.

Bhopal, May 11: Madhya Pradesh continued to receive light drizzles resulting in a considerable drop in the temperature across the State on Sunday. However, State capital has witnessed heavy rains in some parts, particularly in the Airport area, where 1.8 mm of rain was recorded.

 

Exploring possibilities to benefit farmers

Bhopal, May 11: The Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) of the state is thinking out of the frame to explore the additional possibilities to extend benefits of NV reservoirs to the farmers not being covered under the projects. The vice chairman of NVDA put forth the idea of exploring additional possibilities to increase the command area under various reservoirs and directed Member (Engg.) VK Bhatia to lead a team of experienced irrigation, power and mechanical engineers to make extensive tours of reservoir areas for finding ways and means for this.

 

Inspector’s wife demands CBI probe

Gwalior, May 11: Kusum Bajpai, wife of late Ramakant Bajpai, who allegedly committed suicide in recent past, demanded CBI enquiry into the case. She was talking to the media persons at her residence in Gwalior on Sunday. She also demanded to book Kamlesh Mishra, woman police constable who claimed to be wife of the SHO.

 

RGTU project for coal-based gasifier

Bhopal, May 11: Under its efforts to provide clean energy solutions, the Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal has devised a special project to establish coal-based gasifier for producing methane, which would be used for fulfilling domestic fuel requirements. The proposed clean energy fuel would cost around one third compared to the LPG used these days and the project is likely to be completed by December end this year.

 

Dream of independence not incomplete

Gwalior, May 11: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the dream of independence is incomplete until the farmers smile, every hand does not get the work and every poor does not get the right to live with self-respect.
