Relax tubewell norms

Bhopal, Mar 12: Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani directed the government to relax the norms to engage all available rigs for digging tubewells in areas facing severe water shortage due to drought. PHE Minister Choudhary Chandrabhan agreed to abide by the directive.

Bhopal, Mar 12: Shifting the trial of Prof HS Sabharwal murder case from Ujjain to Nagpur on Supreme Court order echoed in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday with the opposition arraigning the BJP government saying it was shameful. While the house was transacting official business, leader of the opposition Jamuna Devi informed the house about the apex court order and said it was a proof that the people had lost their faith on the BJP government.

Bhopal, Mar 12: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday witnessed uproarious scenes with the treasury bench and opposition members raising slogans against each other after the Congress members displayed electronic lantern to highlight the power crisis in the state even as Speaker Ishwardas Rohani disallowed the censure motion sought to be moved against Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi.

 

No sufficient irrigation network: Cong

Bhopal, Mar 12: Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress on Wednesday arraigned the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Bharatiya Janata Party regime in the Assembly for its failure to create a sufficient irrigation network. Participating in a debate on budgetary demands of the Water Resources Department, senior Congress member Harvansh Singh questioned the propriety of placing 'corrupt' engineers in charge of prestigious projects.

 

Inquiry in PDS black-marketing

Bhopal, Mar 12: Madhya Pradesh Food Minister Akhand Pratap Singh on Wednesday announced in the Assembly that a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted by April 15 into complaints of irregularities at fair price shops in Bhind district and black-marketing of food-grain and kerosene allotted under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

 

Airport working unaffected with strike

Bhopal, Mar 12: Flight and airport services were largely unaffected at the Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal as was witnessed in various places across the country on Wednesday, despite an indefinite "non-cooperation" move called by Airport Authority Employees Union, which began at midnight to protest the closure of existing airports in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
